Swap & Drop is based off a popular jewel puzzle game in which you swap pieces to create rows or columns of at least three matching pieces, once a match is made those pieces are removed and the above pieces drop down and new ones fall into their place. In previous versions of Swap & Drop you were required to tap each piece in order to swap but as of 0.5.4 that is no longer an option as we”ve replaced it with dragging/swiping of the pieces.
Swap & Drop currently supports three game modes: Freeplay, Level and Blitz.
In Freeplay mode you continue to match pieces until there are no more possible matches. You also have an option to save and load the current game so that you can pick up where you left off if you need to take a break.
In Level mode you try to complete the required number of dropped pieces before the time runs out or there are no moves left to play. There are a total of 11 levels which each level getting harder. Each level has a different time length and number of different pieces. The amount of pieces cleared/required is in the upper left header. There is a pause feature in case you need to interrupt the current game.
In Blitz mode you do the same as in Freeplay with one difference, the game only last one minute and the object is to score the highest possible score you can in that time frame. Just like Level mode there is a pause feature.
Swap & Drop comes with three sets of icon themes; Palm® webOS™, Social Web and Donuts, it also supports score tracking. It has configurable game settings such as number of pieces (the more pieces the harder the game), board size (5×5, 6×6 and a 7×7 board) as well as enabling/disabling sound effects.
History:
Swap & Drop was formerly called ”PreJeweled” the name was changed in order to meet the Application Naming Policy. The project started soon after I first purchased my Pre back in July 2009, I was really upset that the Pre did not come pre-bundled with any games so after the announcement of the preDevCamp App contest I figured I”d take a stab at making one. The last public release of PreJeweled was in August 2009 soon after I went on a hiatus from the project I guess you could say I lost interest in it. In November 2009 I was bitten by the coding bug and decided to finish and enhance the game with hopes to release it in the Official App Catalog.
Reviews & Awards:
