New app added to the Web Catalog

A member of the PreCentral forums had an app request for an app that could enter My Coke Rewards cap codes, I figure’d it couldnt be too hard to make and if it was it would be a great learning tool. Well after about a week (worked on it off and on) its finally done and was just submitted to the web app catalog.

Thankfully the My Coke Rewards website has a XML-RPC setup for entering codes and after searching around I found a Yahoo! Widget and a Ruby script which uses this feature . The Yahoo! Widget was the most help as it was almost entirely in JavaScript already and it was just a matter of making it work in webOS.

And we have an update.. 1.0.10

RingWhere Beta 1.0.10 was added to the beta catalog today, the most notable fix is that it now runs in the background again (sorry overlooked the appid since we changed it, its has now been future-proofed.) Also fixed the notification icon so that its in color.

RingWhere 1.0.8

Well theres a new version of RingWhere in the beta catalog (Well actually two, but ones broke (1.0.7) and the other is pending review (1.0.8))

One big change you might notice is the name has changed to RingWhere Beta, so when you install versions 1.0.7 and up and you still have 1.0.4, its gonna show up in your Launcher twice. Just delete the app ‘RingWhere’ and keep ‘RingWhere Beta’. If you don’t know how to delete apps its pretty easy; just hold down the ORANGE button on your keyboard and tap the app inside the Launcher, you will then be prompted to delete the application.

Added some fixes and improvements, 1.0.7 initially had the silent ringer feature but its broken. It is fixed in 1.0.8 tho but for some reason it got flagged for review so we’re waiting on @Palm to do their thing. I don’t recall if notifications got put into 1.0.8 but it not they’re in the next release, and hopefully the profile map view will also be in the next release.

Swap & Drop Trial submitted to the App Catalog

We’ve just pushed out a trial version of our game Swap & Drop. If you dont already have Swap & Drop now is your chance to try out a limited trial version to see if you want to make the jump to the full version of the game. The trial is limited to only Freeplay mode and the 6×6 board size, it also does not keep track of scores but it is still very usable for a quick time killer.

Now that @dawm is back from vacation we’re gonna start adding those features we mentioned in our previous blog entry into RingWhere, we have also had some other bug reports we’re going to address as well.

RingWhere suggestions? feedback? New Features!

To all those beta testers out there trying out RingWhere, we value your suggestions and feedback. Get the RingWhere beta -> http://bit.ly/ringwhere-beta

So far we’re planning on adding a Google Maps view of all your profile locations so you can visually see your coverage.
@SineOtter suggested since we cant access the volume settings if we could add a silent ringtone.. Consider it added to the next version.

Also @billybennett was wondering why there isn’t a running background process all the time (as seen via the JSTop homebrew app, its like a taskmanager of sorts), the background process of RingWhere only runs at the set interval you set in preferences, for example if you have the update interval set to 5 minutes, every 5 minutes RingWhere starts its background process to locate your current position and checks it against known profiles and sets your ringtone accordingly then exits. We could possibly add an optional feature to display a dashboard notification when this happens.

After @dawm gets back from his vacation (should be back on the 27th) we’ll have a new beta pushed out with more features.

On another note, we had a question come in via email about RingWhere not changing the ringtone at all. The solution was simple: turning on the ‘Enable RingWhere?’ option at the top of the main scene. RingWhere ships with itself turned off, so make sure you turn it on when you’re ready to have it control your ringtones.

What a night.. twitter goofs and a bug

Well our announcing of the beta for RingWhere on twitter had some issues.. first off we forgot about the requirements for direct messages on twitter (doh!).. then a serious bug pops up with the version currently available for download (1.0.3), it freezes on the main scene when you come back to it from another scene (this has been fixed). So we did a quick fix and tossed up v1.0.4 but now we’re waiting on Palm’s automated beta submission system to make the new version live (it takes around 2hrs before a submission goes live.) Sooo.. hopefully everyone can be patient and nothing else goes wrong.

Say hello to RingWhere

We’ve just released our newest app for beta testing… RingWhere!

RingWhere is a clever utility app that allows you to set your ringtone based on GPS coordinates. Every been embarassed in a meeting by a ringtone when you forgot to set your phone to silent? No longer do you have to worry as RingWhere will automatically change your ringtone while at work (when properly configured that is.)

We tried to balance the automation portion of the app to preserve battery life but only time will tell if our assumptions were correct. If you are interested in testing RingWhere please let us know, as it is not available in the public beta feed.
Check out the screenshots at the RingWhere page.

On another note, we have not forgotten about Swap & Drop and hopefully soon will have a new version out in the App Catalog with some nifty improvements.

We’re making some changes

Hey! We’re making some changes to our site to accommodate some new and updated applications in the Palm App Catalog. Don’t worry we’ll be back soon, we’re hoping this doesn’t take too long.
